Cosmic Weather Report for 2022
Since the sun changes signs every 30 days while the moon does likewise every 2.5 days, these two luminaries govern the basic rhythms of life while presenting a spectrum of rapidly shifting influences.
These variations impact all signs and all persons. They imbue time with character. The outer planets, in contrast, follow long orbits that keep them in the same sign fields for months, even years. Essentially, covering these annual fluxes across the Zodiac would require a book.
Instead, I have analyzed the cosmic weather for 2022 and delineated the best and worst dates. The following sketches depict my read on key time frames and the types of events—issuing out of archetypal energy patterns—apt to occur. This overview is designed to provide my site’s readers with a cosmic edge and prepare them for the months ahead. Dates are presented in chronological order.
The site’s monthly horoscopes will pan in on new moons, full moons, and eclipses to refine the themes of time and their direct impact on each of the 12 Zodiac Signs.
Let’s begin by observing the good cosmic news:
January 16-17: The sun will join forces with Pluto in Capricorn. Here, the clarifying light of the sun works to expose areas that Pluto enshrouds in darkness. Revelations, personal and collective are possible. If conscious will (sun) aligns with deep desire, much can be accomplished. The caveat is that this influence does not discriminate between positive and negative urges. Choose ye which master ye shall serve.
February 8: Action principle Mars will form a perfect lucky trine to innovation-star, Uranus. Levels of inventiveness, genius, and novel thinking reach a max. This same influence incites rebels who may act on behalf of justice and the greater good… or delusions borne of their own misguided egos.
March 2-3: Once every eighteen months the love stars, Venus and Mars join; and this time they do so in the rather serious, stern sign of Capricorn. These periodic fusion zones between Venus and Mars typically demonstrate where relationships gain their strengths. This particular fusion zone is a mixed bag since it occurs in precise conjunction with Pluto. While this god of the underworld can intensify sexual attraction, it also augurs power struggles and incites dark motives. Strong relationships will have cause for rebirth while those not based on genuine caring may pass away. Unstable persons are capable of crimes of passion under this influence.
May 19-20: The sun forms a trine to Pluto, the planet of renewal, rebuilding, remaking, remodeling, and rebirth. These are powerful days to seek and find transformation. This power can express through any restoration project; and if you have already planted seeds, evidence of their harvest may show on these auspicious dates. It’s also a great time to launch a new business venture but do your prep work first to ensure that you’re ready to align with your passion and/or purpose.
June 16-17: The sun will form a trine to Saturn, the planet of hard work, self-discipline, and mundane goals. It is a super-positive time to launch plans, purchase real estate, or tap the assets of a team of supportive players. Goals become illuminated. These are important days to take stock of your life; and if need be, take that fearless moral inventory.
September 19: Here, again, the sun hits the other Zodiac point where it forms that positive, empowering trine to Pluto, the signature of Renaissance. Themes of remaking, rebuilding, remodeling, added to renewal, restoration, and rebirth express. Of course, you can align with the cosmic tide by purposely setting plans and projects into motion that resonate with these species of activity.
October 12: Here again the sun heads to Libra where it forms a trine to Saturn-Aquarius. Saturn is committed to long-term goals, dealing with authority figures, and practicing self-discipline. How better to achieve one’s goals and fulfill aspirations? People who have worked to obtain their objectives are likely to see tangible progress at this time. Business decisions, pragmatic initiatives, and hard work are favored and apt to draw in auspicious results.
December 28: Love star Venus forms a harmonic sextile to Mystic, Neptune. Love ties get swept up in an atmosphere of idealism, artists tap into inspiration, and open-hearted souls soak up the well of compassion. Empathy deepens.
And now for those dates that augur Danger, difficulty, or chaos:
February 4: The sun joins forces with Saturn in the iconoclastic sign of Aquarius. Since Saturn is the planet of karma, many will feel compelled to take a serious look at where they are missing the mark. For persons who have mastered themselves and are capable of demonstrating self-discipline, important work can be accomplished at this time. It’s an opportune moment for taking a serious, sobering view of one’s overall life direction. This same scrutiny can be applied to key projects and current plans.
March 22-23: Near Spring equinox Mars will square Uranus. This combination is the most accident-prone and dangerous of planetary interactions. In a word, it’s explosive. What’s symbolized by this conflagration is an engine catching fire. Military commanders can make zealous, poorly considered decisions as can anyone blinded by passion. This is a short-sighted “ends justify the means” influence. Take heed.
April 4-5: Warrior, energy-principle Mars joins forces (via conjunction) with stern Saturn. Mars can be likened to the gas pedal on a car while Saturn signifies the brakes. How can anyone move forward with one foot on the gas and the other on the brakes? Events move slowly, and fixed signs (Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio) may experience roadblocks to their plans and sense of progress. But this, too, shall pass. Adjustments must be made before progress can resume.
April 18-10: Here, the light-bearing sun is occluded by a dangerous square angle from Pluto, god of the underworld. In both individual and collective ways, dark motives tend to overrule actions otherwise inspired by higher intentions. This planetary interaction points to power struggles (even within ourselves as the proverbial battle between darkness and light) and covert actions. Authority figures may not act in the best interest of those they purport to represent.
May 5: The sun joins Uranus in Taurus. This influence can express in both positive and negative ways. It is highly inventive and innovative. That is where genius and invention can come into play. But it is also volatile, impulsive, and potentially explosive. The latter refers to the types of persons who might be less spiritually evolved. Basically, this planetary duo agitates unbalanced persons to act on the basis of raw impulse without any thought given to long-term consequences.
May 18-19: Pioneer principle Mars meets cloudy, nebulous Neptune. These are poor days for putting plans into motion. They also present dangers to anyone embarking on a trip—particularly by water or at sea. I would term this the Mr. Magoo aspect. Persons who wrestle with addictions may find their efforts subducted at this time. The arenas the Mars-Neptune fusion zone favors are Yoga, Tai Chi, Martial Arts, meditation, and walking by the still waters. (Swimming, on the other hand, can prove more dangerous than usual.
June 16-17: The Gemini sun sign is designed to negotiate human duality. On these dates, it will form a square to Neptune, ruler of Pisces’ two fish. This constitutes a planetary recipe for dichotomy, polarity, divided loyalties, confusion, and facing a real or symbolic fork in life’s road ahead. For anyone who has not yet achieved Yogi status, personal clarity will be distorted. It’s not a favorable time to make any commitments—especially long-term.
July 1-2: Warrior Mars forms a square to Pluto, the planet of spy-craft, the underworld, and covert forces. This is a war-oriented influence that features propaganda and other false portraits of events used to rally support for acts of aggression. Violence may erupt in unexpected places, too. In our personal lives, ego energies run high and it’s easy to fall into arguments or power struggles. Mistrust also escalates. If possible, put off personal fireworks and lay low on these super-charged days.
July 14: Love star Venus forms a square to Neptune, the planet of deception. Guard your heart if you are new to the dating scene, and guard your wallet, too. Venus rules both love and money. This energy pattern is seductive, but dangerous: the planetary equivalent of a Venus Fly-Trap. On the plus side, artists can be drawn into the undertow of a charmed creative process. (Similar tensions between Venus and Neptune recur on September 24 with the same astrological admonishments applying.)
August 1-2: Fiery Mars unites with volatile Uranus. This is a very explosive combination that can literally point to electrical fires or another one of America’s notorious mass shootings. Be mindful both of driving and what is internally driving you, i.e. your actions and motivations.
August 11: The sun forms a square to anything goes Uranus. Expect the unexpected. Plans are not likely to go smoothly at this time. Since necessity operates as the mother of invention, the toppling of the applecart linked to this influence will give rise to novel or even ingenious solutions. These emerge in response to suddenly erupting challenges.
August 14-15: The sun will oppose doubt-prone Saturn. At its best, this combination brings delays. It may also stir up issues with authority figures, bureaucratic offices, or banks. Some people–with this influence hardest on fixed signs: Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio–may come to a complete stop: they may question whether they wish to proceed. Saturn is known as “the tester” since it tests human commitment to prized goals. It also represents Capricorn’s goat striving to reach the mountain summit. Will the obstacles placed in your path undermine your faith in your path or project? Or will you determine there are other ways to reach the mountaintop?
October 9-13: Warrior Mars forms a tricky square to Neptune. This combination points to ambush, perhaps even ambushes set by fate. Mars represents the human ego and its burning desires. Neptune represents fog, clouded vision, inner duality, and deception. Under this influence our motives are clouded nor can we trust those of others. Military and martial interests are prone to using nefarious means to obtain their ends. (Wet, dangerous weather events are likely… like late season hurricanes and storms.) Since Mars turns retrograde, it will return to square Neptune again at these times: November 19-22 (where the same analysis holds.)
October 19-20: The light of the sun will be blocked by a square from Pluto. Persons with power abuse their positions. In general, people will have difficulty discerning their better angels from their darker drives and desires. This influence tests a person’s motives and points to individuals with power taking unorthodox liberties. Observe what’s happening on the political stage at this time.
November 9-10: The Sun will oppose Uranus, the planet of the unexpected. This influence upsets plans and usually calls for quick thinking. It can excite discoveries including ones that bring hidden things to light. The signs most impacted will be Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio, and Taurus. Flexibility is the best approach since the more one rigidly adheres to prior plans and protocols, the greater the odds of disruption.
November 11: The sun will square Saturn, lord of karma. Usually, this influence puts roadblocks in our paths and augments frustration. Authority figures can prove nitpicky. The work that needs to be completed in order to fulfill our plans and purposes seems next-to-impossible, if not a pain in the neck. The positive side of this cosmic equation is that when one is forced to stand still, they may recognize what they otherwise would have missed. It’s time to reprioritize and/or trim the sails. This takes us into 2023 where Venus meets Pluto just in time for New Year. Meeting once again in Capricorn, the Zodiac realm of accounting, relationships will be assessed on the balance sheet that pivots on gains and losses.
Bottom line: not very romantic.
Date wise: Whenever two or more influences occur simultaneously, they intensify one another’s effects. This can work positively or negatively. Essentially, really positive aspect helps to offset a very challenging one. Mercury’s retrograde periods add another level of complexity (and often confusion) to the mix:
First one in 2022: January 14, 2022-February 4, 2022.
Second one: May 11, 2022-June 3, 2022
Third one: September 10-October 2, 2022
